An earthquake shook Mendoza’s siesta this Saturday. The epicenter was in Luján de Cuyo and had a magnitude of 3.1 on the Richter scale.
The movement occurred at 1:32 p.m. and the epicenter was in the Las Compuertas area, 21 kilometers southwest of Mendoza, 15 kilometers east of Potrerillos and 169 kilometers south of San Juan.
According to the National Institute for Seismic Prevention (Inpres) the movement was 3.3 on the Richter scale and had a depth of 11 kilometers.
On the Mercalli scale, the tremor registered an intensity from II to III, that is, very weak, so it was felt “slightly by some people at rest or in buildings” in the area of Las Compuertas, Chacras de Coria, Mayor Drummond and the City of Mendoza.
