Despite the rebound in Covid-19 cases, the trend to reduce infections continues: Jorge Alcocer

In spite of recognize that there is an upturn in cases, Jorge Alcocer Varela, head of Health (Ssa), assured that in the country the trend of reducing infections continues of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

In Press conference who heads the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the secretary exhorted the population to act responsibly and abide by sanitary measures on the eve of the New Year and Three Kings Day.

“Today, in part of our country we have a rebound in cases and in anticipation of the New Year with the family, the arrival of the Three Kings, I respectfully urge that we act with great responsibility to avoid contagion, because the Covid-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc and most important of all, the most effective thing is to take care of ourselves.

“Undersecretary Hugo López-Gatell will present the monitoring of the pandemic (…) but in general I can tell you that the downward trend is maintained in the country ”, he said prior to the presentation of the Health Pulse report.

In National Palace, Alcocer Varela highlighted the support that workers have given health workers who have come to Mexico City from various states of the country to help in the rebound in cases of infections.

“Solidarity is always on the side of just causes, today it is evident when receiving hundreds of nurses, doctors, and health professionals from different states of the Republic who come to support, to lend a shoulder, to whom they are in the first line of attention to Covid ”, he added.

In yesterday’s report, Monday, the SSA reported that Mexico reached 122 thousand 855 deaths from Covid-19, with one million 389 thousand cases of confirmed infections of coronavirus.

The federal agency detailed that 5,996 new infections in the last 24 hours, to reach a total of one million 389 thousand 430 confirmed cases. Also, on the last day there were 429 new deaths and a total of 122,855 in the country.
