She slit open the belly of a heavily pregnant woman. And ripped the baby out of her body. The woman died. The baby survived. Lisa Montgomery (52) was sentenced to death for this. Now the date of her death has been announced.
Lisa Montgomery is due to be executed by lethal injection on Jan. 12 at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Donald Trump’s (74) administration reintroduced executions at the federal level in the summer after a break of 17 years. Since then, ten death sentences have been carried out.
In addition to Montgomery, two more executions are to follow before Trump hands over the presidency to Joe Biden (78) on January 20.
Lisa Montgomery will then be the first female inmate to be executed by the US government since 1953, the Justice Department said.
The bestial crime happened on December 16, 2004 and caused horror worldwide.
Lisa Montgomery contacted Bobbie Jo Stinnett, 23, via the Internet. Together with her husband Zeb, she ran a dog breed in Skidmore, Missouri.
On the pretext of wanting to buy a puppy, Montgomery made an appointment with Bobbie Jo Stinnett, who was eight months pregnant at the time.
Lisa Montgomery had previously suffered a miscarriage in the sixth month, which she was hiding from her husband. But she wanted a baby.
After the meeting, Montgomery fled with her victim’s blood-smeared child, leaving the woman bleeding. Bobbie Jo’s mother found her daughter a little later in a huge pool of blood. But for the young woman any help came too late.
Incredible: Lisa Montgomery called her husband after the crime. She told him that she went into labor while shopping and gave birth to the baby in the hospital.
Together they dressed the stolen baby in pink clothes. Lisa presented it to guests of a café in her hometown of Melvern, Kansas, as her own. Even the priest believed it was her child.
24 hours later, the brutal killer was caught after a large manhunt. The police had found out about her through her email correspondence with the victim.
