Coronavirus in the City: more than 100,000 people were swabbed and about 1,000 tested positive

Four weeks after the testing strategy began for those who will enter the city from distant places more than 150 kilometers, the authorities reported that 100,000 tests were exceeded, and that around 1000 tested positive for Covid-19 coronavirus.

An average of 3750 daily tests were carried out. Yesterday, January 4, was the day with the highest number of studies carried out, with a peak of 8022 tests. For the next seven days already about 16,000 shifts are reserved at the Test Centers arranged by the Government of the City, indicated from the administration of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.

These results reflect the low incidence of touristsor residents who returned from vacation in the steep rise in cases in the city of Buenos Aires in the last four weeks, where it went from 276 daily cases on a weekly average to 674. That is, a rise of 244%. If these data are taken into account, only 5% of new infections are those that returned to the city or tourists.

In total they are six Test Centers that work by performing PCR tests and rapid tests, both saliva and swabs. People who arrive by bus to the city are tested upon arrival at the Terminal Dellepiane, where a special operation that works between 5.30 and 19.30.

The same happens in the Ezeiza Airport, which receives international and national tourists since Aeroparque remains closed for works. It works 24 hours, from Mondays to Sundays. Some 265 people work throughout the operation, including doctors, nurses, biochemists, coordinators and administrators.

For those people who instead arrive in private vehicles or other means of transport, four other centers were made available, where they must go in turn during the first 72 hours after your arrival. These places are:

  • Figueroa Alcorta Vehicle Center (Avenida Figueroa Alcorta and Julio Víctor González) From 8 to 20 from Monday to Sunday.
  • Costa Salguero Vehicle Center (Avenida Costanera) From 7 am to 9 pm from Monday to Sunday.
  • Munich Building (Avenida de los Italianos 851, Costanera Sur) From 8 am to 8 pm from Monday to Sunday.
  • Mobile Health Unit in Balvanera (Avenida Callao 628) From 9am to 7pm from Monday to Sunday.
