The coronavirus epidemic in the country continues to be active, according to the daily technical statement prepared by the Ministry of Health (SSa), until this Sunday, January 3, they were counted 1,448,755 accumulated positive cases and 127,213 deaths from COVID-19 in Mexico.

However, in the last 24 hours, only 5,211 contagion and 362 deaths by the disease caused by the SARS-COV-2 virus.

Meanwhile, 1,821,903 negative infections were reported, 400,142 total suspects and 3,670,800 people studied since viral transmission began in the country.

It should be noted that since December 31, the evening conference to report data on the epidemic in the country has not been held. According to the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo Lopez-Gatell, this event It will resume next Monday, January 3.

Regarding the distribution by sex in confirmed cases, a predominance in men (50.4%) has been observed. The overall median age is 43 years.

On the other hand, Mexico City, with 337,068 accumulated infections, is positioned at the head in the list by residence entity. They follow: Mexico state, with 148,276; New Lion, with 84,360; Guanajuato, with 84,049; Jalisco, with 52,933; Sonora, with 52,632; Coahuila, with 50.007; Puebla, with 48,421; Tabasco, with 44,961; and Veracruz, with 43,399.

These states make up about two-thirds (65%) of all cases registered in the country since viral transmission began.

Regarding people who have presented symptoms in the last 14 days, the SSa reported a total of 53,992; being Mexico City, State of Mexico, Nuevo León, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Tabasco, Querétaro, Puebla, Coahuila and Baja California sur the entities that concentrate 81% at the national level.

While, an estimated 1,631,132 people have been infected with the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Likewise, it is relevant that 1,098,431 patients have been discharged.

Mexico City also ranks first in positive deaths to COVID-19, with 22,044. Then the State of Mexico (14,502), Veracruz (6,227), Jalisco (6,078), Puebla (5,771), Baja California (5,567), Guanajuato (5,414), Nuevo León (5,232), Chihuahua (4,435) and Coahuila ( 4,267).

According to the health authorities, This rebound in cases responds to the arrival of the winter season, a situation that has had a direct impact on the beds available to care for patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

At the conclusion of the National Healthy Distance Day, the Mexican government implemented the epidemiological coronavirus semaphore, a tool to respond to the health emergency.

The colors red, orange, yellow and green indicate the level of contagion risk present in the entity, a situation that the state governments decide based on their indicators.

According to the latest update of said mechanism, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Baja California, Morelos and Guanajuato is under maximum risk alert, which is indicated by the color red.

The orange alert includes the states of Aguascalientes, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Colima, Durango, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sonora, Tabasco, Tlaxcala, Yucatán and Zacatecas. On the other hand, in Veracruz, Sinaloa and Tamaulipas the current color is yellow.

Finally, Campeche and Chiapas they have managed to maintain the green traffic light for their entities for a few weeks. With this level of risk, different activities are released in the public space, since the probability of being infected is low.
