Faced with the rebound in coronavirus cases, the Health Secretary (SSa) disclosed that 28,030 health workers have been vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 virus in Mexico City.

On December 25, the national vaccination day began, where the first group to benefit from the application of the antigen is the health personnel who care for patients who were infected with the disease.

“Good day. @SSalud_mx informs me through @SsaludCdMx that 28,030 health workers from all institutions have been vaccinated in the City to date. Today the vaccination continues. In the meantime for everyone, please do not lower our guard, ”said Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, head of government of Mexico City.

For his part, the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador He assured that at the end of March all older adults will be vaccinated. Later, citizens with chronic diseases, teachers, among other population groups will be immunized.

“At the end of January we will start en masse for all older adults with the CanSino vaccine, which is a single dose, we are already doing the paperwork and we will have this vaccine at the end of January and we calculate that by the end of March we are going to have all Mexicans vaccinated, of course this is voluntary for those who want it because we are free but the obligation of the Mexican State to guarantee that everyone who wants to be vaccinated has the possibility to do so. Universal and free vaccine.

“At the end of March we will have the entire population over 60 years vaccinated, everyone, and by April we will start with those who are younger, with chronic diseases, then teachers and so we think that we will not lack vaccines, “said the president in a video posted on social networks.

Of the 53,626 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine received by the government of Mexico, have been applied 32.824 (61%), detailed the president.

“We have received 53,625 doses, so far 32,624, 61% have been applied, all this to the medical personnel who are in COVID hospitals, as we agreed following the recommendations of the specialists, first to protect those who are saving lives, which we estimate is around 750,000 ″.

According to the data of the SSa, Until this Saturday, January 2, 1,443,544 accumulated positive cases and 126,851 deaths from coronavirus were registered in Mexico. At the national level, the entity with the most confirmed infections and deaths from the virus is Mexico City, with 335,746 and 21,926, respectively.

On the other hand, they were counted 57,998 people with symptoms in the last 14 days, representing the active epidemic in the country. Of this total, CDMX concentrates 25,364, the State of Mexico 5,868, Nuevo León 3,602, Guanajuato 3,252, Jalisco 2,422, Tabasco 1,843 and Querétaro 1,601.

Based on the most relevant epidemiological indicators, state governments establish the color of the COVID-19 traffic light that will be in force in their entity for two weeks.

According to the latest update of said mechanism, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Baja California, Morelos and Guanajuato is under maximum risk alert, which is indicated by the color red.

The orange alert includes the states of Aguascalientes, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Colima, Durango, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sonora, Tabasco, Tlaxcala, Yucatán and Zacatecas. On the other hand, in Veracruz, Sinaloa and Tamaulipas the current color is yellow.

Finally, Campeche and Chiapas they have managed to maintain the green traffic light for their entities for a few weeks. With this level of risk, different activities are released in the public space, since the probability of being infected is low.
