The Catamarca government reported this Wednesday, through a statement on its website, that 17 bottles with doses of the Sputnik V vaccine, which were stored in the Carlos Malbrán Monovalent Hospital, were sections and quarantined for reliability after lose their cold chain.
The authorities explained, through a press release, that “during one of the regular monitoring carried out to the chamber in which the vaccines for Covid-19 are stored, a unscheduled rise in temperature from one of the freezers ”.
For this reason, they pointed out that “17 bottles that were in storage were set aside and quarantined to determine their reliability.”
It is about 17 doses of the 1350 belonging to the first batch of vaccines that Catamarca received last Monday, December 28, as part of the federal immunization scheme against the coronavirus that the national government agreed with the provinces.
The Executive Power of Catamarca also indicated that this Wednesday it coordinated details of the operation of arrival in that province of a new batch of Sputnik V.
As he explained, this batch of vaccines “will be destined for the second stage of work with health personnel”, adding to the private sector and to some inland towns provincial.
It is about 1,350 vaccines that will arrive during the tomorrow of this Thursday and they will be housed in the refrigerated storage area of the Carlos Malbrán Hospital.

The incident occurred at dawn on Monday when there was a cut in the camera that monitors the freezer that contained the batch of Russian vaccines. The head of the Sanitary Region IX of the province of Buenos Aires, Ramiro Borzi, said that an internal and administrative investigation revealed several irregularities.
The provincial official explained that “we began to corroborate a series of irregular and serious events. For example, at 2:50 in the morning the camera monitoring the freezer was cut off. Strange movements around the hospital were confirmed by other cameras. There was also a lack of reporting by security personnel about the area where the vaccines are physically located ”.
