The Ministry of Health of the Nation reported this Saturday that, during the last 24 hours, 56 deaths and 5,240 new positive cases of COVID-19 were registered. With this data, the total number of infected amounted to 1,634,834 and fatalities total 43,375.

In the last 24 hours, 17,270 tests were carried out and since the beginning of the outbreak, 4,897,167 diagnostic tests were carried out for this disease, which is equivalent to 107,922 samples per million inhabitants.

Among the fatal victims there were 33 men: 7 residents in the province of Buenos Aires, 8 in the City of Buenos Aires (CABA), 3 in the province of Chaco, 1 in the province of Córdoba, 2 in the province of Entre Ríos, 3 in the province of Río Negro, 1 in the province of Santa Cruz, 7 in the province of Santa Fe, 1 in the province of Tierra del Fuego. Also 23 women: 6 residents in the province of Buenos Aires, 5 in the City of Buenos Aires (CABA), 1 in the province of Chubut, 1 in the province of Córdoba, 2 in the province of Entre Ríos, 1 in the province from Santa Cruz and 7 in the province of Santa Fe.

During the last weeks it became evident a sharp increase in the number of cases nationwide. This situation generated alarm in the health authorities and that is why last Wednesday, the president Alberto Fernandez received the head of the Buenos Aires government at the Olivos Presidential Estate, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, and the Buenos Aires governor Axel Kicillof.

The three leaders agreed that there is a relaxation as a result of the general tiredness of the citizens and an equivocal feeling that the worst of the pandemic is over. The yellow lights came on when massive concentrations began to take place in public spaces, such as the farewell to Diego Maradona in downtown Buenos Aires and the River caravan two years before the final of the Copa Libertadores Madrid, and they turned red last week , when the curve accelerated again after the Christmas meetings and the traditional dinners to say goodbye to the year.

The week began the national campaign for the application of the Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus and from the Ministry of Health they reported that the reported reactions “were mild and moderate, did not require hospitalization and are within the normal parameters of any vaccine.”

The health portfolio reported that there were 317 cases of mild reactions after vaccination, after the application of 32,013 doses among health personnel in Argentina, which were reported in the Federal Register of Nominal Vaccination (NoMiVac).

Sources from the Ministry of Health explained that the preparation of this type of study was planned within the strategic planning for monitoring events related to immunization.

Finally, they pointed out that so far, “the records in Argentina are consistent with the phase 1 and 2 trials in Russia” and that “adverse adverse effects are as expected”.

They also added that these mild adverse effects mentioned “appear within 24 hours of application of the vaccine and disappear between 24 and 48 hours after application.”

The distribution of the 300 thousand doses of the Sputnik V vaccine in the country concluded on Monday 28, in a campaign that required uninterrupted tasks for 24 hours and the use of hundreds of preservatives, tons of dry ice and a large number of trucks to start tomorrow a historic vaccination scheme for thousands of health workers in all provinces.
