During the last weeks it became evident a sharp increase in the number of cases nationwide. This situation generated alarm in the health authorities and that is why last Wednesday, the president Alberto Fernandez received the head of the Buenos Aires government at the Olivos Presidential Estate, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, and the Buenos Aires governor Axel Kicillof. The three leaders agreed that there is a relaxation as a result of the general fatigue of the citizens and an equivocal feeling that the worst of the pandemic is over.

As if it were not enough, the situation on the Atlantic Coast is worrying. After the start of the 2021 Season, images of crowds on the beach began to circulate, as well as improvised parties on the seashore. Although they are prohibited by municipal ordinance, they do happen. He spent this Saturday, January 2, in the seaside resort of Pinamar and, a few days before, in the seaside resort of Claromecó, district of Tres Arroyos, province of Buenos Aires. The postcard is always the same: youth groups, alcohol, music and, of course, zero social distance.

In the midst of the versions that claimed that, at this rate, the summer season was going to end in mid-January, the mayor of Mar del Plata Guillermo Montenegro denied it. “I don’t see it, I also think it would be impractical. We have to defend health but with work. Today is healthier work. We have 26% unemployment. In my head, I don’t see it possible to generate some kind of violent closure and end the summer season“Said the 58-year-old man.

According to Montenegro, there are many previous alternatives to reach that instance. “In August I raised controls with PCR. Let’s start to see what are other ways to limit the possibilities of contagion, but taking care of your work. Most of the problems are from being underground”Said Montenegro.

Meanwhile, from the Ministry of Health of the Nation, they continue with the Strategic Plan for vaccination against COVID-19; The Government plans to implement more controls on the groups of adolescents and young people (between 20 and 30 years old) that gather in the parks of the city of Buenos Aires and in the spas of the Buenos Aires coast.

“We are at a turning point. Children infect their parents and parents pay despite their respect for the rules of social distancing. We have nothing defined, but if we have to dissuade with the public force, we will do so ”, argued the President.
