The Czech Republic goes into lockdown again. Most shops have to close due to the high number of corona infections. Contact restrictions and a night curfew apply nationwide.
Another lockdown will begin in the Czech Republic on Sunday. In view of the increasing number of cases, the government’s highest corona warning level applies nationwide.
Less than a month after reopening, most stores will have to close again. Supermarkets, drugstores and pharmacies will remain open. Only goods for daily needs may be offered. School operations will only resume to a limited extent after the holidays.
Night curfew and contact restrictions
Exit restrictions and a night curfew from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. apply across the country. No more than two people may meet in public. There is no exception for New Year’s Eve. A maximum of 15 people are also allowed to attend weddings and funerals.
The restrictions also apply to winter sports: ski lifts must stop operating. Before that, there had been a strong run on the country’s ski areas because many wanted to take the last opportunity for an excursion before the corona measures were tightened.
The restrictions should initially apply until January 10th. It is the third lockdown in the Czech Republic since the pandemic began.
