Corona: Moderna vaccine recommended for approval in Europe – politics

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) gives the green light for the use of Moderna’s corona vaccine. An EMA committee recommended approval of the vaccine on Wednesday.

The final decision must now be made by the European Commission, its approval is considered certain. It would be the second approval for a Covid-19 vaccine in the European Union.

Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) does not initially expect large deliveries of the Moderna vaccine. In the first quarter, Germany expects almost two million cans, said Spahn on Wednesday.

First deliveries could arrive next week. In total, Germany has ordered a good 50 million cans from Moderna via the EU, which are expected in the course of the year.
