In February it became known that the police were looking for Attila Hildmann. Where the corona denier is staying has long remained unclear. Now the Berlin public prosecutor has announced new details.
The vegan chef Attila Hildmann, who appeared as a conspiracy ideologist in the Corona crisis, is currently in Turkey according to the findings of the Berlin Attorney General. The arrest warrant against him for incitement to hatred, public incitement to criminal offenses and resistance to police officers could therefore not be carried out in a timely manner. The authority said this on Thursday.
The Berlin public prosecutor’s office had already taken over the investigation against Hildmann in November last year. In mid-February it was announced that there was an arrest warrant against Hildmann. This was reported by t-online with reference to police circles, Hildmann himself had previously disseminated the information on social media using his Telegram account. At this point it was already unclear where exactly the 39-year-old was.
According to media reports, reports against him had previously been collected at Hildmann’s place of residence in Brandenburg. Hildmann was arrested during the escalation of protests at the Reichstag building in August 2020. In July of last year, Hildmann is also said to have threatened the Green politician Volker Beck. If he were “Reich Chancellor”, Beck should be introduced to the death penalty “by kicking the eggs,” he said, according to press reports.
At the end of 2020, Hildmann’s residence in Brandenburg was finally searched. The investigative authorities had seized several storage media such as hard drives and cell phones in Wandlitz in November. The Berlin public prosecutor’s office then received a court order to evaluate several laptops, cell phones, memory cards and USB sticks. “These are intensive, extensive and time-consuming investigations,” said a spokeswoman for the public prosecutor at the time.
