Bogotá, Apr 2 (EFE) .- Colombia added 10,222 infections and another 163 deaths from coronavirus this Friday, figures for which health authorities consider that the country is entering a third wave of the pandemic.
Colombia totals 2,428,048 infections, of which 55,062 remain active, corresponding to 2.27%, while 2,300,887 have been counted as recovered, that is, 94.76%.
Covid-19 infections have skyrocketed in recent weeks, mainly in the department of Antioquia, which today added 3,008 cases, and in the Atlantic, which registered 2,147 on this day.
There were also high figures in Bogotá (1,805), Valle del Cauca (592) and Magdalena (432).
The regions in which the most infections have been confirmed continue to be Bogotá (690,844), Antioquia (380,298), Valle del Cauca (209,698), Atlántico (156,344) and Cundinamarca (111,526).
Regarding the deaths reported on this day, with which Colombia accumulates 63,777 deaths, the Ministry of Health reported that 146 occurred in previous days.
The deaths occurred mainly in Atlántico (42), Antioquia (30), Bogotá (16) and Valle del Cauca (13).
Today 43,401 samples were processed, of which 29,873 were PCR-type and another 13,528 were antigens, for a total of 12.83 million tests performed.
According to the report of the Ministry of Health, in the last 24 hours in the country 57,498 doses of the coronavirus vaccine were applied, less than half of the more than 121,000 administered in the previous day.
In total, 2,300,890 doses have been applied in the country, of which 334,955 people have received both doses.
