In the country and in Latin America, in general, the population is the victim of Chronic noncommunicable diseases, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease, factors of high vulnerability to contract covid-19, said the Pharmacobiologist chemist, José Antonio Duarte García.
These conditions are derived from comorbidities such as arterial hypertension, which is the first. In the Latin American region “Cancers, of different types, are in second place. Third, chronic respiratory diseases and fourth, diabetes mellitus ”.
Although in the case of Mexico, the incidence of deaths due to CNCD, “there is a change in the order, and the main ones are diabetes and cardiovascular diseases,” said the doctor. Duarte García, in an interview for the First Broadcast of Imagen Radio.
Within the framework of World Health Day, which is commemorated on April 7, the specialist regretted that the pandemic has lowered the alerts due to the multiple deaths derived from these chronic non-communicable diseases.
He highlighted that each year, worldwide Chronic noncommunicable diseases they generate around 15 million deaths, of people between 30 and 69 years of age.
These 15 million are related to non-communicable diseases. But the most shocking thing is that 85 percent of these deaths occur in developing countries, ”such as Mexico, he indicated.
Hence the need to think about the prevention and early care of this type of diseases, which will lead us not only to help not only reduce this high number of deaths, but also reduce the comorbidities that are today related to covid .
Many of these diseases are associated with lifestyle, and can be prevented, with early detection, as recommended by the World Health Organization.
Doing clinical tests, monitoring the patient in the initial stages, when a disease is not appreciated, when people think they are healthy ”, and adding an appropriate discipline, added to a physical activity agenda.
