Data from 533 million Facebook users from 106 countries was leaked online. The leaked information includes phone numbers, names, locations, email addresses, among other personal information. To see if you were one of the 533 million affected by the Facebook data leak, you can go to the Have I Been Pwned site.
On this site you must enter your email address and you will find out not only if you are part of the recent Facebook data breach, but also any other in which your information has been compromised.
After entering the email address, the site shows all the cases in which your data was compromised in the past. There is also a summary of what those security breaches were like for companies such as Adobe, Canvas, LinkedIn, MyHeritage, MySpace, Taringa and Wattpad.
What should you do if your data was leaked? If you have a Facebook account to which you have added the phone number, we recommend that you activate the two-step verification. In the event that you have changed your number after August 2019, the filtering of the Facebook database will not affect you.
Have I Been Pwned?
It is a website that allows Internet users to verify whether their personal data has been compromised by data breaches. The service collects and analyzes hundreds of database dumps and pastes, which contains information on billions of leaked accounts and allows users to search for their own information by entering their username or email address.
Users can also sign up to receive notifications if their email address appears in future dumps. The site has been widely touted as a valuable resource for Internet users who want to protect their own security and privacy.
