César Duarte assures that his extradition to Mexico would put him at risk of being assassinated

“Organized crime violence in Mexico represents a clear and present danger for Mr. Duarte as a former governor of a northern state. The former governor of Jalisco, Aristóteles Sandoval, was assassinated alone in a fancy restaurant weeks ago, probably by organized crime. Mr. Duarte faces the same fate as Mr. Sandoval if he returns to Mexico, ”the document reads.
