Joe Biden, President-elect of the United States, assured that the work of the Government of Mexico does to combat COVID-19 is better than that of the US administration, revealed this Thursday the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
“In the call I had with President-elect Biden we discussed the issue and he recognized that the attention in Mexico on the problem was better than what they were doing,” he said in his conference at the National Palace.
During that call, López Obrador and Biden reaffirmed their commitment to work together for the good of Mexico and the United States.
The president affirmed that to address the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the federal government hired more than 70,000 health workers and increased the number of intensive care beds, from 3,000 to 12,000.
Added that in Latin AmericaMexico is currently the nation that has vaccinated the most against COVID-19, (53,185, according to data from the Ministry of Health).
Until Wednesday, the health authorities counted 129 thousand 987 deaths and one million 479 thousand 385 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus. On the other hand, the US registers more than 21 million confirmed cases and about 361 thousand deaths.
