BARCELONA – Barcelona is negotiating the return as a free agent of the young pearl of Paris Saint-Germain, Kays Ruiz, for next season, different sources confirmed to ESPN.
The Franco-Moroccan midfielder trained at Barça since he was seven years old but had to leave La Masía for PSG in 2014 after FIFA sanctioned the Catalan club for failing to comply with article 19 of the Regulations on the status and transfer of players .
The 18-year-old ends his contract with PSG on June 30 and Barcelona is trying to take advantage of it so that he returns to the Camp Nou.
Different sources have admitted to ESPN that there are other greats in Europe interested in his signing but Kays’ priority is to return to what was his home.
Thomas Tuchel made him debut at the beginning of this season in a friendly, although the German’s dismissal did not suit him at all in his progression and he disappeared from the plans of the first team, since Mauricio Pochettino did not have him.
Barcelona also sees him as a good reinforcement for the future and has already begun negotiations to re-fish him with the idea that next season he will play for the subsidiary team.
Kais was one of the eight victims of the sanction that FIFA imposed on the Catalan club in April 2014 for violating the provisions relating to the hiring of minor footballers.
An anonymous complaint to FIFA uncovered the matter. South Korean Seung-Woo Lee, who was considered by many to be Lionel Messi’s successor at the time, was at the center of the investigation but Kays’s name also appeared on the list and had to leave Barcelona after the club was sanctioned two years without being able to register footballers, and with a fine of 370,000 euros.
