Authorities: No connection
Swiss dies after Covid vaccination
After the death of a person recently vaccinated against the coronavirus in Switzerland, the health authorities see no evidence of a possible connection with the vaccination.
Due to the medical history and the course of the disease, a connection between the death of the 91-year-old from a nursing home in the canton of Lucerne and the vaccination with the Biontech / Pfizer vaccine is “highly unlikely,” the health authority Swissmedic said on Wednesday.
According to Swissmedic, the deceased suffered from several serious previous illnesses. Neither the medical history nor the acute course of the disease suggested a direct connection with the vaccination. A natural cause of death is assumed.
In Switzerland, the vaccination campaign against the corona virus began on December 23. So far, no unknown side effects have occurred with the vaccinations, emphasized Swissmedic.
