At least 10 dead in Iran – two avalanches spilled 100 mountaineers – News abroad

Avalanche disaster in Iran! An unusually heavy snowstorm at this time of year surprised many mountaineers in the Elburs Mountains. Two avalanches went off and buried almost 100 people in total.

The Iranian Red Crescent confirmed on Sunday that the bodies of ten mountaineers were recovered in the heights of the mountains north of the capital Tehran. It cannot be ruled out that other people may have died.

According to reports, 80 of those buried have been rescued so far. We are still looking for ten more.

According to the Isna news agency, the Red Crescent will continue its rescue work on Sunday. The mountaineers had already buried the avalanches on Thursday.
