BUENOS AIRES, Apr 26 (Reuters) – Buenos Aires, Argentina’s largest province, will consult with its main bondholders in the coming days to amend the original debt restructuring offer launched last year, a local government spokesman said on Monday.
“We are going to open a round of restricted consultations with the main bondholders in the coming days, for the province to make a new offer. Based on that, an amendment to the original proposal would be made. The idea is to resolve the issue of the debt, “the spokesperson told Reuters.
The province, which extended the deadline to renegotiate its debt to May 7 on Monday, seeks to exchange some $ 7 billion in bonds amid the prolonged recession and high inflation that hit the country and which were aggravated by the coronavirus pandemic.
