Argentina registers 15,012 new cases of covid and 170 more deaths

Buenos Aires, Apr 25 (EFE) .- Argentina registered this Sunday 15,012 new cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, bringing the total number of positives to 2,860,884, while deaths rose to 61,644, after being 170 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

In the province of Buenos Aires, 6,820 new cases were reported this Sunday, while in the capital of Argentina 2,701 positives were registered.

According to the daily report released by the Argentine Ministry of Health, there are 2,518,167 patients who have already been discharged, while 4,942 people with a confirmed diagnosis of covid-19 remain admitted to intensive care units.

The percentage of occupancy of intensive care beds for all types of pathologies is 67.5% nationwide, but 76.6% if only Buenos Aires and its populous periphery are considered.

So far, in Argentina 10.7 million tests have been carried out to detect the virus, of which 43,550 were carried out this Sunday.

Argentina has been going through a dizzying increase in covid-19 cases since the beginning of April, with a growing level of bed occupancy in intensive care units.

Faced with this scenario, from last day 9 until April 30, restrictions on night traffic apply, which the Government of Alberto Fernández decreed to expand in Buenos Aires and its periphery since last Friday.

The Executive also ordered that in Buenos Aires and its urban cordon, the most populated area of ​​Argentina and the one hardest hit by the pandemic, face-to-face classes in schools and recreational, social, cultural, sports and religious activities be suspended for two weeks. , the gastronomic services in the closed places and that the commerce operates in a more limited schedule.

While facing the onslaught of the second wave of covid-19, Argentina, with a population of about 45 million inhabitants, continues with its vaccination campaign against the coronavirus, which began at the end of last December.

According to the latest official data, 7,192,185 doses have been applied so far.

A total of 6,320,052 people received the first dose of the vaccine, while 872,133 people were already inoculated with the second dose.
