Brunsbüttel – Terrible accident on a country road in Schleswig-Holstein. In the early hours of the morning, a fully occupied Hyundai crashed into a tree and went up in flames. For three of them (18 to 20 years old) any help came too late, they burned in the back seat of the wrecked car.

As the police in Itzehoe announced, the five young people in the vehicle were on the road to Marne at around 5 a.m. on Saturday morning when the crash occurred.

The driver (19) drove over the center island of a roundabout at “presumably excessive speed”, lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree. The driver and front passenger (18) were thrown out of the vehicle.

The Hyundai went up in flames immediately upon impact. Three trapped people (18 to 20 years old) in the back seat had no chance: They burned.

Because of the intense heat, it was initially not possible for the rescue workers to get to them. After the fire was extinguished, the fire brigade had to open the wrecked vehicle with rescue equipment so that the bodies could be removed.

After the mission, the helpers were looked after by the emergency pastoral care. One of the accident victims is still in mortal danger.
