It all began when the accused, identified as the first lieutenant Jorge Luis Ríos, who is 34 years old and performs his duties in the Campo de Mayo Investigations Unit, appeared at the house of his ex-wife, also a corporal of the same force.
The 31-year-old woman, who works in the Security and Custody Group of the Centinela Building in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Retiro, was returning from celebrating the New Year with her current partner, a GNA corporal named Martín Ariel Salto, 34, and his brother-in-law, Alexis Salto, 27. With them was the eight-year-old son that Ríos and his ex have in common.
The attacker drew his service weapon and attacked the two men, who were shot in the heads and died almost instantly. A call to 911 alerted about the double crime and troops from the 1st police station. from San Miguel arrived at the scene immediately. Ríos was apprehended and a 9-millimeter-caliber Pietro Beretta pistol seized from him.
